The Full Story
My story starts from birth, really. I was born with heart disease. My family also ate a lot of cheap food like ramen and spaghetti growing up, and I was sick a lot. I had various things like strep throat, tonsillitis, and eventually, endometriosis. I ended up having surgery to remove scar tissue after a cyst ruptured and had to have a hysterectomy when I was 21.
When I was a teenager, I would stay up late, and one night I saw an infomercial about “The Juiceman.” I convinced my parents to buy a juicer, and I told them I wanted to eat healthier. So, we started juicing, and I dove headfirst into research at the library, learning how to heal. I started reading about what I could do that was within my control to improve my health because I was in so much pain from the endometriosis and having so many issues with my cycle. I found that it was mainly caused by inflammation, and more importantly: I could do some things to change my diet to help myself.
I would suggest things to my parents, and luckily, they would try them. We started eating more fruits and vegetables, and then I discovered they needed to be organic, so we switched to organic produce. Then I learned about hormones in our meat, etc., and we made sure we were buying high-quality stuff. I was really interested in what I could control about my health.
When I became an adult, I continued to have issues with my heart. I had ventricular tachycardia and underwent four catheter ablations to try to correct it, but I was still having arrhythmia. I thought to myself, “Okay, if this is an electrical issue with my heart, what helps with electrical issues?” Then I came across energy healing. I started seeing a massage therapist who did some energy healing.
In 2019, I got in a bad car accident where someone ran a red light and hit me. I suffered a concussion and a lot of chronic pain following that so I started to see a different massage therapist who introduced me to even deeper energy practices. During the first appointment I had with her, my whole body was shaking. I could barely walk when I got there––I limped into my appointment, but when I got off the table, I walked fine. It was amazing. I was like, “How did you do that?” Naturally, I started to question it, and the pain came back. I continued to see her, and she introduced me to Eckhart Tolle, so I read The Power of Now. After that, I got one of those, “other books you might like” suggestions for The Emotion Code. I read it, and I signed up to work with a practitioner to clear my Heart-Wall. After those sessions, I stopped having issues with my heart..
Between the energy healing and The Emotion Code, I was able to heal any emotional and energetic blocks I was having and only kept getting better. Then with my concussion, I did neurofeedback, and I started to heal trauma. I began to ask myself, “What lessons am I needing to learn from all this?” I watched the video of my accident, and I just immediately knew I was supposed to turn my life around and do something different, so I started searching for how to do that. I had been interested in becoming a health coach for years. Then COVID happened, so when I realized I was going to be home for an unforeseeable time, I decided to get my certification. I did that all online and continued to practice energy healing on myself. When the mandate was lifted, I was introduced to a woman who used reiki and sound healing during my massage therapy sessions. She would put the sound bowls on my back and play them, and I could feel the vibrations throughout my whole body. I had never felt better, and I knew I wanted to help people in a similar way.
I got hired at Mindful Wellness Center as a health coach and was learning The Emotion Code. I eventually added reiki and sound healing to my repertoire, and when I started learning, I thought, “Oh my gosh, I could combine all these therapies.” I knew if I could help people release emotions, use sound to rebalance their frequency, and then give reiki to fill in the gap, it would be so impactful and powerful. I started to test it and practice, and I found that people were able to release emotions and heal so much quicker without having to deal with overwhelm.
My doctors continue to be amazed (and confused) at how much I’ve been able to impact my health for the better. They have said my heart and cells are healthy. I was able to thrive even though I had a life-threatening heart condition, and I attribute that to my diet. Whenever I would ask them what I should do, they’d just say, “Oh, your cholesterol is good, so you don’t need to change your diet.” When I was in the hospital on the cardiac diet, I remember feeling like I was eating fake food. There were times I’d be like, “Can I just get an apple?” The medical system just doesn’t know about how food can heal you. That’s what inspired me to want to help educate people. My doctors just simply didn’t know. I got my health coaching certification to teach people what I’ve learned by trial and error.
All that said, eating healthy and learning about diet and exercise was a big factor in my healing, but it wasn’t everything. It was the lifestyle changes plus releasing emotions, healing the trauma, and calming my nervous system. I recognized that you can’t just heal by food and exercise alone. You have to address the emotional side of being a human.
Combining these therapies with health coaching has been incredible. I have seen amazing results when my wellness clients come in for sessions and support. A lot of times when people can’t lose weight it’s due, at least in part, to a dysregulated nervous system. Or, with cravings, I noticed food is very emotional. I’ve seen that using these complementary modalities with people on a health plan helps them stay on track. Even beyond that, we store our emotions in our bodies, so as our bodies heal, it’s very likely that these deeper topics will rise to the surface whether we mean for them to or not. Being able to help people release emotions and help calm their nervous systems with reiki has helped my clients lose weight faster, keep cravings at bay, and to continue keeping the weight off.
